Park Area Travel Plan
Cambridge Science
Park is situated in an out-of-town location
near the A14 and the M11 motorway. Therefore
many people travel by car. Congestion
on the roads around the park is a major
problem, particularly during peak times.
The local authorities recognise that
an increase in road capacity will not
solve the congestion problem in the long
term.
A Steering Group has been set up,
with local authorities and businesses
working together in partnership to discuss
shared transport issues and to identify
measures that will encourage and enable
people to travel by sustainable modes.
Through partnership working organisations
will all benefit from the introduction
of the Area Travel Plan and the implementation
of tailor-made solutions, while at the
same time sharing costs.
JMP Consulting
is facilitating the process and the development
of the Area Travel Plan.
Specific aims
of the Cambridge Science Park Area Travel
Plan include:
- Assessing the existing transport
conditions;
- Identifying where transport improvements
are needed; therefore increasing travel
options to the park; and
- Reducing congestion and improving
the local environment.
