An area travel plan (ATP) is
a transport management strategy for
a cluster of businesses that share
transport issues. ATPs improve travel
choices to an area, by improving access
by all modes of transport.
Each
year employers lose at least £20
billion through congestion.
The
aim of an ATP is often to enable businesses
to expand efficiently, and to avoid
the costly effects of traffic jams
commuter and business related travel.
The
benefits that result from an ATP are
numerous, most significant is the effect
that a reduction of traffic has on
public spaces. Polluted and noisy town
centres can become attractive destinations.
